Napoli stadium officially renamed ‘Stadio Diego Armando Maradona’
After city mayor Luigi De Magistris initially suggested the name change last week, the city of Naples has officially approved the proposal to rename the Napoli stadium in honor of Diego Maradona. As announced in an official statement this afternoon, the stadium based in the neighbourhood of Fuorigrotta in the west end of the city will formally change its name from the ‘Stadio San Paolo’ to ‘Stadio Diego Armando Maradona’. Napoli’s legendary number 10 had passed away on November 25 at the age of 60, having spent 7 years as a player in Campania, leading the club to its sole two league titles to date as well as a Coppa Italia and a UEFA cup success in 1989. The number of confirmed Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the African continent has reached 2,163,284 as of Monday afternoon, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said. UN: Over 110 people killed in attack on Borno rice field
United Nations (UN) has revealed that not less than 110 civilians were killed by Boko Haram in the attack on a rice field in Borno State. Earlier reports had put the death toll of Saturday’s deadly Boko Haram attack on rice field in Borno at 43 while several others were said to be missing. NUC mandates UI to appoint acting vice-chancellor
Following the crisis that trailed the selection of a new Vice-Chancellor for the University of Ibadan, UI, that led to the process becoming inconclusive. the National Universities Commission, NUC, has directed the Governing Council of the university to appoint an Acting Vice-Chancellor to take over from the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka, on Monday, November 30. The directive became expedient, following the deadlock in the appointment of a new VC to replace Olayinka, whose term expires on Monday.
