Asisat Oshoala, Onome Ebi join Super Falcons for Portuguese showdown
Officials have disclosed that skipper Asisat Oshoala and experienced defender Onome Ebi have overcome visa hitches and should feature for the Super Falcons against Portugal Sunday in continuation of the Summer Series in Texas, USA. Both players missed the Falcons opening game against Jamaica, which the African champions lost 1-0 Thursday. Belarus-based central defender Ebi, for one, will be expected to bring her vast experience to bear on a defence that coach Randy Waldrum described as “disorganised” against the Reggae Queens of Jamaica. Waldrum said Ebi and Ohale were the main anchors of the Super Falcons back four. The Falcons have suffered several withdrawals for this invitational tournament due to injury and visa hitches. Rivers United are through to the final playoff round of the CAF Confederation Cup after they again defeated South Africa’s Bloemfontein Celtics on Saturday. Despite playing at a neutral ground, at the Charles De Gaulles Stadium in Port Novo, Benin Republic, Rivers United posted a 3-0 win over Celtics to progress on 5-0 aggregate scoreline. Liverpool midfielder chooses Nigeria over England
Ovie Ejaria has committed his international future to Nigeria. The midfielder is currently on loan at Reading from Liverpool. According to former Super Eagles media officer, Colin Udoh, Ejaria is now set to represent the three-time African champions. “Ovie Ejaria has committed to Nigeria, an @NGSuperEagles team source tells me. “Paperwork is already with FIFA, and Nigerian passport needs to be renewed. “All but settled for the Liverpool man who is on loan at Reading,” Udoh tweeted on Wednesday.
