Venerated house music producers Tchami and AC Slater have assembled the finest artists from their respective record labels in a bass house showcase, Confessions X Night Bass: The Album. The compilation boasts the brightest stars on both the Night Bass and Confession constellations. The joint venture is careful in its approach to not outshine the other, instead obscurely blending both collectives. Opting to home in on the similarities between the two house music imprints, the album is cohesive and ultimately delivers a powerful collection of records ready for the dancefloor. Speaking of the dancefloor, the introductory track is a piercing bullet of a record, with its aim on the discotheque. With vocals by Kate Wild, “Only One” is the brainchild of Tchami...

Dance music wasn’t always this popular. In fact, the sights and sounds we now associate with the genre were once considered taboo. They were the emblems of a counterculture forced to blossom not out in the open, but in the safe confines of arcane nightclubs and warehouse raves. So how did electronic music break through the glass ceiling? Before the songs of Above & Beyond, Roger Sanchez, Armin van Buuren, and other legendary producers rattled the world’s biggest festival stages, they were auditory ugly ducklings on a quest to reach their full potential. The music always had the potential to fly, but without the help of the gutsy independent record labels willing to back it, its wings would forever remain clipped. And after all these years, those indies have proven...

Night Bass founder AC Slater and rising bass house producer Qlank have teamed up for a new track called “Suffocating,” tapping hip-hop artist and TikTok sensation Queen Millz for the verses. Serendipitously released on his birthday, “Suffocating” is the first single off Qlank’s forthcoming Dance Again EP. In typical Night Bass fashion, the bouncy and boisterous song is sure to boost the energy in whatever room it graces. Synth stabs and a thumping bassline combine with the intoxicating vocals of Millz for a high-energy and danceable tune. AC Slater, who recently became a new dad, owns and operates Night Bass, runs the popular Slater’s Sounds Spotify playlist, and is a prolific streamer. After playing his first festival back since the pandemic at Insomniac’s Day Trip Festival, he ...

After a series of teaser EPs for her long-awaited Oasis Nocturno (Remixed) album, TOKiMONSTA has finally released the monster 20-track project. Released September 23rd via Young Art Records, the album includes previously released remixes by AC Slater and Dombresky, among others, along with a cutting edge lineup of promising EDM artists.
