Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi Wednesday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Commissioner for Housing, Mrs Uchechi Okah, at the deceased’s Abakiliki residence. Umahi, who was accompanied by top government functionaries, described the deceased as a dependable ally in his administration’s success story. IPOB sit-at-home: Black marketers sell petrol at N300 per liter in Ebonyi

Black marketers on major streets of Abakaliki cashed in on the sit-at-home order by the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Monday to make brisk business. They sold the premium motor spirit, otherwise called petrol, for between N200 and N350 per litre, following the closure of fuel outlets in the city due to the IPOB order. Sex worker detained for intent to sell own four-month-old baby

Police in Ebonyi on Tuesday detained a commercial sex worker on allegations she intended to sell her son for N40,000. The baby is four months old and breastfeeding. The mother said she needed to raise money to start a beer parlour. Ebonyi governor denies giving cultists N3 million

Governor David Umahi on Monday said he did not give N3 million to placate notorious cult groups allegedly terrorising residents of the state. Umahi said this when the 13 Local Government Area Chairmen, Coordinators of Development Centres, with their Management Committee members, among other political appointees, paid him a solidarity visit at the Government House, Abakiliki. Herders in Ebonyi now to carry identity cards – deputy governor

The Ebonyi Government on Tuesday directed that all the herders in the state should henceforth carry identity cards to help in identifying them in the event of any crime. The Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe, announced the new directive while briefing newsmen on the outcome of a special security meeting convened by Gov. David Umahi at the Government House, Abakiliki. The meeting had the leadership and members of the state chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) in attendance.
