The state government directed that all private and public schools, tertiary institutions could reopen on 5th of October 2020. Ebonyi assemblyman’s brother found dead in car boot

The younger brother of an Ebonyi House of Assembly member has been found dead in his car boot along the Abakaliki/Afikpo expressway. The deceased, Samuel Aleke, reportedly left his house Saturday evening May 23 and was not seen until the next day when his corpse was discovered inside the boot of his car. He was the younger brother of the member representing Ebonyi North-west in the state house of assembly, Victor Aleke. Ebonyi coronavirus cases rise to 22 as four patients discharged

Four more COVID-19 patients in Ebonyi state were on Sunday discharged from the state isolation centre at Unity Square, Abakaliki, the state capital, bringing the total number of discharged patients in the pandemic to six. Meanwhile, the number of cases have risen from 13 to 22 in the state. A team from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) witnessed the discharge of the four patients. Dr. Majinger Ibeneme, Pillar Head, Case Management of the NCDC in the state, said all the patients at the isolation centre were stable. Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi has stated there may be another lockdown if Nigeria is to defeat coronavirus. He stated this during a live broadcast to residents on Wednesday. He attributed the increasing cases of the virus in the state to the easing of the lockdown, especially in Lagos. He said: “I want to commend Mr. President in the manner and wisdom he is handling this pandemic.
