Jack White’s Third Man Records will commemorate the 20th anniversary of The White Stripes’ White Blood Cells by releasing a companion album of unreleased material from the era. The latest release from Third Man’s Vault subscription service, White Blood Cells XX collects 30 previously unreleased songs and live recordings, as well as an hour-long DVD offering a behind-the-scenes look at the making of White Blood Cells. Pressed on red vinyl are 13 previously unreleased tracks, including demos of “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground” and “Offend In Every Way”. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut, The National are reissuing that album along with two other early releases. Fresh pressings of 2001’s The National, 2003’s Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, and 2004’s Cherry Tree EP are set for release on February 26th, 2021 via 4AD. The remastering for all three was handled at Abbey Road Studios. While it’s rare to hear any of these recordings performed live these days, they laid the groundwork for The National’s eventual sound. To celebrate, Dilla’s early label BBE Music has announced a deluxe 7-inch vinyl box set reissue set for release on February 5th, 2021. Welcome 2 Detroit — The 20th Anniversary Edition presents the original LP remastered and split amongst 10 discs. Each disc includes one or two of the 16 album tracks backed by either an instrumental or alternate take. Rev Christopher Edeh, the Archbishop of Enugu Diocese, Methodist Church, Nigeria, says Nigeria will witness better progress, growth and patriotism by learning from past mistakes. Edeh said this in a Sunday sermon during the 20th Anniversary of the Central Methodist Church, Enugu. The clergy said that the major problem of present-day Nigeria was lack of basic knowledge of the evolution of the country as well as its various stages of nationhood by young Nigerians. He said it was sad that most secondary schools in the country do not teach history as a subject and called for the reinstatement of history in all secondary schools.
