SZA Breaks Mary J. Blige's 17-Year Chart Record, Receives Double Platinum Certification for 'SOS'

SZA‘s sophomore studio album SOS has officially been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The December 2022 record has now sold two million units in the United States in its first four months, and received the double platinum certification about two months after the platinum plaque. SZA also received 12 additional certifications, including five platinum (with a 3x and 5x platinum plaque) certifications and seven gold.

The double platinum certification was unveiled just days before Billboard reported that SZA had broken a record set by Mary J. Blige almost two decades ago; “Kill Bill” is now the longest-running No. 1 track by a female lead on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at 16 weeks, overtaking Blige’s 15-week record for “Be Without You” in 2006.

In related news, SZA is extending her SOS tour.
