Sylvan Esso has continuously evolved over the past decade-plus. From recording in their home studio in North Carolina to playing Madison Square Garden, the enigmatic duo of Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn have not only basically created their own genre of electro-pop, but continue to experiment and play on each new project.
The genesis of their contemporary acclaim dates back to their 2014 debut, the namesake Sylvan Esso album. The duo has announced that they’ll be releasing a reissue of the project, the Sylvan Esso (10 Year Anniversary Edition), on May 17.
In addition to the original tracks, the reissue will introduce eight totally new songs, along with remixes courtesy of Rocc, Rick Wade, Helado Negro, Dntel, Hercules and Love Affair and Charles Spearin. It will also hear Sylvan Esso cover Porches’ “The Cosmos.”
Available as a CD and on vinyl, the latter print of the Sylvan Esso (10 Year Anniversary Edition) will be packaged as a double black and white LP with gold packaging. A special olive green vinyl will be exclusive to online, while special double CD and double LP will be sold only in North Carolina record stores in a limited run of 150 copies each.
Sylvan Esso’s special reissue, Sylvan Esso (10 Year Anniversary Edition), is out everywhere on May 17.
