Switzerland-based running brand On has joined forces with Art Basel on a new collaborative series of Art Walks and Runs accompanied by renowned curator Gianni Jetzer.
The Art Walks and Runs will allow guests to indulge in selected highlights of the Art Basel Parcours sector with expert insight on each piece, while also testing On’s Cloudaway urban/outdoor hybrid shoe. Held twice daily throughout this year’s Art Basel show, the Art Walks and Runs will begin at the On Structure, which is inspired by the brand’s iconography and is located on Messeplatz.
In addition to its art-meets-exercise series with Art Basel, On has chosen to spotlight the work of Swiss artist Pamela Rosenkranz at the show, putting one of her pieces on permanent public display. Rosenkranz’s work is largely defined by insightful investigations of biological and cultural influences on the human experience; across mediums of painting, sculpture and installations, she combines recognizable objects — like Evian water bottles, for example — with abstract interpretations of the body.
Further, On has donated a painting from Rosenkranz’s ongoing Viagra series to the Kunsthaus Zürich museum. Last week, On co-founder David Allemann presented the piece to Mirjam Varadinis, Curator for Contemporary Art at the museum, where it will have its first showing in a 2022 exhibition titled Take Care: Art and Medicine.

Elsewhere, one of Basquiat’s “Warrior” paintings is expected to rake in $19 million USD at Sotheby’s.
