On his Wednesday night zoom call with the media Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was asked if he had a message for Tiger fans for Thanksgiving.
As usual his message was one that had great perspective for everyone, not just Clemson fans.
“I was talking with the staff about that this morning,” said Swinney. ” If you can hear this, if you can see this man we have so much to be thankful for. First of all to be able to live in a country like we live in. To have men and women that protect us that most of us will never meet. It is just a blessing to be able to live here.”
Tigers and Gamecocks should be thankful they get to enjoy the rivalry this week.
“Even something and I know this game is big to all of us and its a big moment but in the scope of life if really pales to what is going on in our world. But it is such a blessing to be able to be a part of a game like this. And to be able to prepare for it and be able to compete in it. So people get a chance to experience a game like this. To be a part of a true rivalry type of game and all of that type of stuff. It is just a blessing,” said Swinney.
But Clemson’s leader is thankful for things much more important than a football game and wishes everyone would treat every day like Thanksgiving.
“I am just so thankful for good health. And the good Lord just giving us today. That is really the mindset I tell our team all the time. Thanksgiving it really shouldn’t be a holiday. It should be a lifestyle. Every single day that we wakeup we should be thankful. That should be the first things we do. It is hard to be hateful when you are grateful. If we just wakeup every day with a grateful heart and a grateful mindset. We all have something to be grateful for. If we wakeup and we have breath in our body that is something to be grateful for. So again I am just thankful for the good Lord and all that he has done for me and certainly these players and our staff and our team. It has been a blessing to be with a lot of these guys. Our seniors to be able to be with them four, five, six years it is really special. It is a blessing and I am thankful for that,” said Swinney.
