The first season of Hell’s Paradise completed airing in Japan last week. Over the weekend, a short promotional teaser was released, confirming the anime series will receive another season. Produced by Studio MAPPA, the first cour of Hell’s Paradise is adapted from Yuji Kaku’s popular dark fantasy manga, covering the first two arcs of the series in the span of 13 episodes.
Loosely set in Japan during the Edo period, the story follows Gabimaru the Hollow, an apathetic ninja on death row. He was given one more chance to win back his freedom and have all his crimes pardoned, but only if he can retrieve the elixir of life from the legendary realm known as Shinsenkyo. Gabimaru was shipped to a faraway island alongside fellow death row convicts, all of whom have been assigned a designated executioner as their escorts. The entire group becomes stranded on the mysterious island, they quickly realize the place is replete with mystical yet incredibly dangerous creatures.
As of now, no official release dates have been announced. Keep an eye out for forthcoming Hell’s Paradise updates via its website, and MAPPA, or Yuji Kaku’s Twitter pages.
