Gone in 60 seconds? More like gone in six hours. At least that’s how long we assume it took the thief (or thieves) to strip and gut the cabin of this new Subaru WRX STI.
The above video (which, we should warn, includes a couple of F bombs) shows a red WRX STI missing its wheels, brakes, and the majority of its interior bits, including the front and rear seats. It’s a clean-looking gut job and one that certainly took a bit of time to complete.
According to the blog Tire Meets Road, the incident occurred at Schomp Subaru in Aurora, Colorado, and a video of the vehicle’s torn-apart state was first uploaded to TikTok in mid-May of 2021. We reached out to Schomp Subaru for comment and will update this post when or if we hear back from a dealership spokesperson. Nevertheless, TMR notes the dealership allegedly lacks video footage of the incident and that the sum of the parts stolen from this WRX STI totals close to $25,000.
We have to assume the dealership’s insurance totaled this poor Subie. That said, if you see any great deals on “like new” or “never used” WRX STI parts in the Aurora, Colorado area, you might want to think about alerting the police (or at least don’t try to strike a deal with the seller), as it’s possible those bits of STI kit may have been stolen from the very vehicle in this video.
