Joseph Quinn, who portrayed the fan favorite Stranger Things character Eddie Munson, met up with Metallica and jammed with them during a rehearsal for their headlining show at Lollapalooza.
In a video shared by Netflix, the band and the actor hung out backstage where James Hetfield confirmed that he’s been a big fan of the show since its first season. After Quinn admitted that “Master of Puppets” — the Metallica track his character on the show famously played — was all that he listened to for two years to prepare for the role, they went on to perform the song during rehearsal. With the actor impressing the band with his take on the cut, drummer Lars Ulrich announced, “Metallica is now a five piece.”
To top it off, the band gifted Quinn with a signed replica of the guitar Eddie uses on Stranger Things, and even paid homage to the character during their Lollapalooza set with clips of his “Master of Puppets” performance appearing on the screens while Metallica played their song.
“It was amazing! Opportunities to play ‘Master of Puppets’ with the most iconic metal band of all time don’t come around very often. A story for the grandkids,” Quinn told Netflix’s TUDUM.
