We’re a month out from Star Wars Day (aka May the Fourth) and the next chapter of the Star Wars franchise has just been revealed. As Star Wars: The Bad Batch concludes at the start of May, it turns out there’s plenty more Star Wars action to come shortly afterwards, even sooner than the arrival of Star Wars: The Acolyte in June.
Revealed today, a sequel to 2022’s Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi has been revealed — introducing Star Wars: Tales of the Empire. Its predecessor focused on the stories of two former Jedi who walked two very different paths — Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku. This time around, the focus has shifted to the perspective of The Galactic Empire with an emphasis on Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth and former Jedi Barriss Offee.
Elsbeth’s rise to prominence as magistrate of Calodan is finally explored as, thus far, she has only appeared in The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, two series set in the post-Empire era. In Tales of the Empire‘s first trailer, her connections to Thrawn, the Nightsister home planet of Dathomir and the destruction led by General Grievous are all highlighted. As for Offee, her turning against the Jedi Order, which is documented in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, is followed by a path to the Inquisitorius, bringing her to not only the Grand Inquisitor, but Darth Vader himself.
Release for Star Wars: Tales of the Empire is set to take place on Star Wars Day (May 4) via Disney+ with all six parts of the animated anthology available at once.
