Spotify’s Expanded Blend Feature Allows Artists To Sell Merch In-App

Spotify has expanded its recently-launched Blend feature, now enabling users to buy merch from their favorite artists in-app.

Launched earlier this year, Blend is a shared playlist that allows users to collaborate with not only their friends and family but also artists such as BTS, Charli XCX, The Chainsmokers, Post Malone, Megan Thee Stallion and more.

After a user Blends with their artist of choice, Spotify will create a playlist personalized to their shared tastes. They can also take a look at their Taste Match scorecard, displaying the percentage of music taste that the user and artist have in common.

From there, users will be able to access the artists’ online merch stores, where all items have been curated by the artists themselves. Offerings from Post Malone and Lizzo, for instance, include t-shirts and vinyl albums.

Spotify’s online merch stores are powered by Shopify and artists will be able to showcase up to three items from their online store on their Spotify profile.

In other music news, NBA YoungBoy has dropped a new track “Change” as his album release date nears.
