Specialized Unveils the World’s Lightest Gravel Bike: The Crux

Specialized has unveiled the all-new Crux, the lightest gravel bike in the world equipped with massive tire clearance capabilities and performance gravel geometry.

Weighing 725 grams, the Crux boasts a responsive build with a nimble and reactive ride. And with a 47C tire clearance, the bike offers more capability across a wide range of terrain. The Crux enlists a straight-shot, hollow drive-side chainstay, which helps to keep the bike focused around the improved 1x and gravel 2x cranksets with a lightweight.

“We knew an ultralight bike with massive tire clearance would truly unlock gravel performance,” said Stewart Thompson, road and gravel product leader at Specialized, in a statement. “With the breakthroughs made on Aethos, we finally had the technology to make it a reality with the new Crux.”

The bike provides a 10mm longer reach to supply riders with ideal weight distribution and a shorter stem for more controlled steering. Specialized’s performance gravel geometry “creates the feeling of being ‘in’ the bike for incredible confidence while still feeling quick and nimble at the bars,” according to the company.

Overall, the Crux boasts a modern and simple construction, removing the rack, fender and bag mounts so riders can engage in a straightforward riding experience. Keeping with the minimal design, the bike features dropouts, thru-axles, a seatpost clamp and a derailleur hanger, each of which were borrowed from the Aethos.

Head to Specialized’s website for customizations specs and price details.

Elsewhere, a rare one-owner Ferrari F40 Berlinetta is headed to auction.
