Tel Aviv-based AR company Sightful has released its first product: a screenless computer. The personal computer is billed as a re-imagination of the traditional work laptop, packed as an 11-inch long lightweight workstation.
Equipped with 5G connectivity, the laptop, dubbed the Spacetop, allows its owner to curate their ideal workstation using AR. A physical deck provides a keyboard and projector, while several laptop screens at a time can be projected into the air.
As for its capabilities, the Spacetop runs on a Snapdragon 865 and Adreno 650 GPU. It offers 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage, making it essentially comparable to an iPhone.
The user, meanwhile, will have to wear a pair of Nreal glasses while they work, which allow them to view the virtual monitor. Overall, the basis for the device seems to be geared less at users who are working remotely from their living room and more towards those who are constantly on the go and can’t be bothered to lug around their laptop.
Pricing for the Spacetop hasn’t yet been made publicly available and the device will be launching in an early access beta of 1,000 units. Those interested in buying one for themselves can apply online.
