South African Singer Goes Viral With Phenomenal Cover Of Zach Bryan’s “Something In The Orange”

South African Singer Goes Viral With Phenomenal Cover Of Zach Bryan’s “Something In The Orange”

Everyone loves a good cover song, but artists know that if they are going to step into the shoes of another artist, they either have to do the song justice or give it a different spin.

This South African artist by the name of Lloyiso somehow managed to do both of those things when they covered Zach Bryan‘s “Something in the Orange.”

If you are like me, you’ll probably watch this excerpt that was shared by the musician on Instagram over and over again (at least 20 times). The link to the full version of the cover is also included at the end of this article.

“Something in the Orange” was originally written and recorded by country music star Zach Bryan. He released it in April of last year along with the rest of his songs on his third studio album American Heartbreak. The tune was the second single released ahead of what would become his hit (and arguably most recognizable) album.

Bryan released the original version of “Something in the Orange” along with a more raw version of the song featuring just vocals and piano. This powerful cover of the popular song by Lloyiso is probably closer to the “vocals and piano” version of Bryan’s hit.

Here’s a sneak peak:

How good is that?

Even Zach himself was blown away:

“You’ve got to be kidding, man.”

Zach Bryan was nominated for Best Country Solo Performance at the 65th annual Grammy Awards for the song, which acted as the singer-songwriters’ first entry in the Billboard Hot 100. I strongly believe that this cover could do the same.

The cinematography of the cover version’s music video is about as perfect as it gets. An orange microphone, the orange of the sunset battling against the inevitable dusk on the horizon, and most importantly, a “Guy Fieri type” shirt with flames on the bottom and sleeves of the shirt.

Simple, yet elegant.

Lloyiso makes the song his own while still honoring the emotional moments that Bryan crafted himself within the lyrics. It truly is one of the best covers I’ve seen.

And if you wanted a refresher, here’s Zach Bryan’s timeless, classic version of “Something in the Orange.”
