Sony Pictures is delaying many of its major titles releasing in the coming two years, including the highly-anticipated Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter.
According to reports, Madame Web is being postponed by four months and will be premiering on February 16, 2024 instead of its original October 6, 2023 date, while Kraven the Hunter will experience an even longer delay of 10 months, premiering on October 6, 2023 instead of January 13, 2023. A reason for the postponements were not revealed by the studio, but arrives alongside announcements of several new Sony Pictures films.
Both films will be part of the Sony/Marvel Universe, with Madame Web being billed as a Spider-Man spinoff. It stars Dakota Johnson as the titular character with a cast comprising of Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, Adam Scott and Zosia Mamet and will be directed by S. J. Clarkson. On the other hand, Kraven the Hunter will see Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the main character, starring alongside Ariana DeBose and Fred Hechinger while J. C. Chandor will serve as director.
In related news, Sony Pictures also delayed Chris Pratt’s Garfield movie.
