Sony is Rumored to Release a Sequel to the WH-1000XM4 Over-Ear Headphones

Sony’s WH-1000XM4 wireless over-ear headphones have been at the top of most tech charts recently due to their quality performance and specifications, but rumor has it, that the tech giant is looking to give its dominating headphones an upgrade with the upcoming WH-1000XM5. While the current model is anything but extraordinary with good reason, according to the German tech news website TechnikNews, the WH-1000XM5 will be launching with new tweaks to the overall body and specifications.

The current WH-1000XM4 boasts top-of-the-line ANC within the market, but some may shy away from the pair due to the seemingly bulky design. As per the leaked photos, the latest model looks to be a lighter rendition with a sleeker modern shape and comes in the same black and silver color options. The headband looks to be slimmer with connecting brackets attached to the ear pods possibly for better rotation.

In terms of features, the main highlight of the coming launch is that the headphones will now last for an extra 10 hours – bringing up the total battery life to 40 hours. Total charge time will be brought up to 3.5 hours. The on and off switch will now be a slider mechanism according to the photos. A new driver may be installed as well, but further information has yet to be released.

The new WH-1000XM5 is speculated to release sometime this 2022 with more details to surface in the coming months.

Elsewhere in tech, Apple Watch Series 6 models with blank screens can now receive free repairs.
