Sony is continuing to build out its lineup of over-ear headphones with its latest model, the WH-CH720N. Billed as packing Sony’s lightest headband ever, the new pair lands as a comparably cheaper alternative to the company’s $400 USD flagship WH-1000XM4.
With the CH720N, Sony uses the same V1 processing chip to power its Dual Noise Sensor technology. Each leather ear cup features two microphones to capture ambient sound, which is used to reduce ambient noise and provide active noise cancellation.
Weighing in at just 6-oz, the headphones are geared toward those looking for an everyday, wearable on-the-go pair. The CH720N packs in 35 hours of battery life, eschewing the chore of daily charging. When talking on the phone in a crowded environment, the processor utilizes voice pickup technology to amplify speech.
Sony also lauds high-quality sound via its DSEE, returning some of the elements lost in audio file compression back to the original track. If users want even more control over their listening experience, sound can be equalized and fine-tuned using the Sony Headphones Connect app.
Priced at $149.99 USD, the WH-CH720N is available in black, blue and white colorways at Sony and other authorized retailers beginning Spring 2023.
