Snoop Dogg on Wednesday announced that he will star in an upcoming NFT sitcom, dubbed “Da Dogg Gone Gym,” alongside the Harlem Globetrotters.
The sitcom is slated to arrive as part of a larger joint campaign that features a limited-edition NFT drop from Snoop Dogg and the Globetrotters, including Snoop’s new Harlem Globetrotters theme song, available exclusively on the crypto promotion site VAST.
Landing under the Globetrotters’ New Tech, New Trainer, New Tour campaign, the new sitcom will follow a 1970s era Snoop Dogg as a Globetrotter trainer working with viral Bay Area dancer Junebug, complete with automated applause and classic laugh tracks.
“It’s been a dream come true for our Globetrotter players to work with the iconic Snoop Dogg,” says Sunni Hickman, VP of marketing and sales, in a statement. “His passion for basketball and baller culture is second to none; to have him as part of our team has been super dope.”
Snoop Dogg has long been invested in the NFT world — in March, the rapper dropped a blockchain-inspired track, titled “NFT”, along with his own Snoop Dogge Coins, and in September, Snoop revealed his identity as the real-life buyer behind the NFT moniker Cozomo de’ Medici.
A release date for Snoop Dogg and the Harlem Globetrotter’s NFT sitcom has not yet been announced.
In case you missed it, Snoop, Ice Cube, E-40 and Too $hort dropped their debut Mount Westmore track “Big Subwoofer.”
