Slipknot’s DJ Sid Wilson was hospitalized after he “sustained burns across his body” in an accident on Friday (August 23rd). In an Instagram video, Wilson shared a shaky video of himself being treated at the hospital, telling fans, “I had an explosion in my face.”
Despite the serious nature of the burns, Wilson vowed to continue touring with Slipknot. The band recently wrapped up the first leg of their North American tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their self-titled album. They return to the road on September 1st at the Rocklahoma festival before launching the second leg of the tour on September 7th in Auburn, Washington, with tickets to their upcoming shows available here.
In the video, Wilson says, “Hi, everybody, I had an explosion in my face. I’m okay, I’m gonna be okay, but I did have some serious burns to my face and my arms. I’m singed everywhere. Eyebrows are singed. My mouth is blistered. My arms pretty bad. Both of my arms.”

Wilson also posted a second video reporting that he was being transported to a burn unit, where he was set to undergo further treatment, and have his head shaved. He also repeatedly assured fans that he would be okay.
In the comments of Wilson’s first video, a number of his musical peers reached out to him. Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch wrote, “Love you @sidthe3rd what the hell exploded, be careful, crazy man! So glad you’re OK.”
System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian remarked, “Damn brother, that looks painful. Hope you heal quickly. We’re out here sending you positive thoughts.”
