Riot grrrl outfit Sleater-Kinney took the stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, performing their new single “Say It Like You Mean It” with a little help from Fred Armisen.
As the band’s Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein jammed along, Brownstein’s old Portlandia costar Armisen emerged from stage right midway through the song, coyly shaking a tambourine. The unannounced appearance didn’t seem to affect the other performers, however: “Say it, say it/ Like you mean it,” Tucker continued belting over building synths and chugging guitar. “I need to hear it/ Before you go.”
“Say It Like You Mean It” is the latest single off of Sleater-Kinney’s upcoming album, Little Rope, which is set for release on January 19th. A follow-up to their lead single “Hell,” “Say It Like You Mean It” was released last month along with an accompanying music video starring Succession‘s J. Smith-Cameron.
