Skrillex To Drop His First Solo Album in Almost a Decade in 2023

Skrillex has announced that he will release a double album in 2023.

Earlier this week, the producer, whose real name is Sonny Moore, took to social media to share the news, writing, “QFF/DGTC 23.” The cryptic lettering was widely assumed to denote a pair of albums were on the way this year. Following the initial post, Circa Suriva/L.S. Dunes frontman Anthony Green took to Twitter to share his excitement about the project, reposting Skrillex’s tweet with the following caption: “Honored to be apart of this record. It’s a masterpiece. Thanks for letting me work on it with you.”

On January 2, Skrillex posted a snippet from the first full-length effort’s lead single, titled “Rumble,” which features contributions from Fred again.. and Flowdan. In the caption, Skrillex confirmed that the inaugural track will release on January 4.

The two albums will arrive as Skrillex’s first studio records since his debut album, Recess, which was released in 2014 and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in April of that year. In 2021, Skrillex ended a two-year silence with a bevy of one-off singles, including “Butterflies,” featuring Four Tet and Starrah, “Too Bizarre,” featuring Swae Lee and Siiickbrain, “Supersonic (My Existence),” with Noisia, Josh Pan and Dylan Brady, and “Don’t Go” featuring Justin Bieber and Don Toliver.
