A new Skepta documentary is slated to make its way to the screens under the new H.Wood media partnership. Coming from the same director who worked on Post Malone: Runaway, Hector Dockrill is slated to lead the project.
Currently in the works, the documentary surrounding the U.K. rapper is the first project between Skepta’s production company, 1PLUS1 Production and the LA-based H.Wood group. According to Variety, fans will be in for a “stirring documentary about the artist focusing on themes of cultural identity and artistry.” John Terzian, Brian Toll and Jeremy Allen for H.Wood Media and Dwight Okechukwu for 1PLUS1 Production are producing the documentary.
Skepta recently received the prestigious Mercury Prize and made his first foray into the film wordy with the short Tribal Mark earlier this year. He told Variety, “Even if you listen to my albums, I always have skits, so I feel like I’ve always had doing a movie in my mind somewhere,” sharing that a feature-length film is what he hopes to make down the line. Okechukwu said in a statement, “I am thrilled and excited about our new partnership with powerhouse H.wood media, based in Los Angeles. As we embark on this collaborative journey, I am truly excited about the endless possibilities that lie ahead. I find Jeremy, John and Brian very inspiring and supportive. It’s a great pleasure to be working with partners that move so efficiently.”
The documentary is slated to release in 2025.
