There’s nothing we love more than a film mashup, and it appears that Simone Ashley got the memo. The actor stepped out at the LA premiere of live-action film, “The Little Mermaid” rocking the Barbiecore trend, inspired by the soon-to-be-released “Barbie” movie. Ashley wowed on the aptly ocean-coloured carpet in a fuschia pink micro minidress with dramatic train by Atelier Versace, and commanded attention amongst the tonal sea of blue-green looks.
Styled by Rebecca Corbin-Murray, the “Bridgerton” star’s ensemble was seriously striking. Not only is the bright Barbie pink set to be the colour of the summer with the upcoming Greta Gerwig release, but her dress silhouette made for a show-stopping style moment. The micro minidress was corseted at the top and featured off-the-shoulder straps, while the dress was trimmed with intricate cream and silver lace. Built-in bra straps peeked out of the neckline, but the drama didn’t end there. Voluminous pink, ruffled fabric was added to the right hip before cascading to the floor in a long train.
Ashley teamed a pair of silver, metallic Christian Louboutin heels with her dress and a starfish ring on her finger, in a sweet nod to the under-the-sea film. Her makeup was kept simple, with matte rose lip and soft eyeshadow, with her hair given a middle parting and styled in waves behind her back. Ashley joins Rita Ora in pink Versace, as the latter recently wore a lingerie look from the fashion house while appearing on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon“.
Ashley’s Barbiecore ensemble is the latest in a series of lust-worthy ‘fits worn by the 28-year-old. Having recently gone public with her boyfriend, Tino Klein, the actor attended the Versace show in Los Angeles in March wearing another fuchsia pink micro minidress and she rocked a sparkling hooded gown for the Fashion Awards in December, cementing her fashion status.
For “The Little Mermaid” premiere, Ashley rubbed shoulders with the star-studded cast who were very much on theme for the evening. Halle Bailey, who plays Ariel in the film, looked stunning in a metallic blue Valdrin Sahiti fishtail gown, while Melissa McCarthy, who plays Ursula, opted for a blue, fringed dress with opera gloves.
