Through a new video teaser, Netflix announces that it will be producing a new film remake of the 1975 classic Japanese action thriller, The Bullet Train.
The remake will be directed by Shinji Higuchi, who’s best known for co-directing the 2016 Shin Godzilla film alongside Hideaki Anno. Higuchi has also worked as a storyboard artist for Anno right from the start of the very first Evangelion anime to all its later animated feature films.
The new film will star former Japanese actor and SMAP-member, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi as the lead and is expected to follow the same suspenseful premise as the original film. Netflix also hinted that the film will use VFX and other special effects to create compelling visual segments for the train itself. The remake will also go with Bullet Train Explosion as its title and is set to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2025. In the meantime, check out the teaser above.
