The first trailer is out for Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series from director Deborah Chow. Scheduled to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on May 25, the Star Wars spin-off will see Ewan McGregor reprise his role as Kenobi alongside Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader.
Set a decade after 2005’s Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, which marked McGregor’s last appearance in the role, the Jedi master must contend with the corruption of his former friend and apprentice Anakin Skywalker, who has become Darth Vader.
The story begins on the planet Tatooine, where Kenobi escaped with an infant Luke Skywalker. “The fight is done,” McGregor says in a voice-over. “We lost. Stay hidden.”
With Darth Vader in power, however, it appears that Kenobi won’t be able to stay hidden for very long.
The miniseries was produced by Lucasfilm, the same studio behind The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse will also return in their roles as Owen and Beru Lars, respectively.
There’s also a slew of new additions to the Star Wars universe who will appear in the series, including Kumail Nanjiani, Bennie Safdie, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Sung Kang.
In other entertainment news, a new Morbius teaser trailer focuses on Jared Leto’s journey to find a cure.
