“The Gospel and health message go hand in hand”, said Seventh Day Adventist Pastor, Brent St Jean after a successful ‘Glow Run’ last Saturday evening, May 4, 2024.
The activity began at 7:00 p.m at Heritage Square, Kingstown, and finished at the tarmac of the decommissioned E.T Joshua airport where a ” burnout segment”, was held.
In excess of one thousand participants turned up for the Glow run Pastor Brent estimated, though many walked for part of the journey.
Following the burnout segment, there was a large social activity referred to as ‘Adventist social’, which featured ring games and other social activities geared at “keeping people active still”, and was hosted by Keon Constance of Island wide fitness.
The SDA pastor said his hope is for Glow Run- a programme of the ‘Move to Live- to become a lifestyle rather than “just another event”, adding that ‘Move to fit’ is “an initiative encouraging our members to exercise as a means of being healthy and staying alive.”
Pastor Brent revealed that ‘Move to fit’ will be hosting other activities throughout the year, notably in July where there are plans to host a health fair and exercise programme, as well as another glow walk before schools resume after the summer break.
“The adventist church is a strong believer that the gospel and the health message go hand in hand, so we believe that health and spiritual wellness and physical wellness are closely tied together,” he said.
Last year, ‘Move to Fit’ partnered with the Ministry of Health in some of their activities. However, Pastor Brent told SEARCHLIGHT that for this year’s activity there was no partnership.
Additionally, 2024 is the first year featuring the ‘Glow Walk’ segment as apart of Move to Fit.
