ScHoolboy Q has a unique marketing strategy to promote his new album leading up to its release. Ahead of BLUE LIPS dropping next month, the TDE rapper released two songs from the album, “Blueslides” and “Back in Love,” for fans to stream for just 24 hours.
The tracks premiered with official visuals at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Come the same time tomorrow and the links will no longer be available.
On “Blueslides,” Q delivers a narrative about staying humble in spite of being successful and not allowing one’s pride to get in the way of their goals. Shot and edited by Cordell Jomha, the visual intersperses him rapping with a collage of artistic imagery and videography.
“Better climb out of that hole before you f**k up your blessings / ‘Fore you realize that it’s over with and start to get despеrate / Keep your mind, body on pressure, givе your time when it’s needed,” he raps.
“Back in Love,” meanwhile, leans more towards jazz with a feature from emerging artist and producer, Devin Malik. In that video, Q smokes and dances around a figure holding up a sign reading “BLUE LIPS.”
