School of Strength: Class is Now in Session

4 October 2023 – The Special Olympics video School of Strength: Class is Now in Session presented by Drew McIntyre won the 2023 Sharecare Award in the Healthy Living Category. The video is part of a Special Olympics Unified Fitness Workout in which McIntyre invites people of all ages and abilities to join him in a series of 10 exercised designed to improve endurance, strength, and agility.

This marks the second year in a row that a Special Olympics video has won a Sharecare Award. This year’s award was accepted via video by Novie Craven, a Special Olympics Washington, DC athlete and a Coordinator in the Brand, Communications and Content department at Special Olympics International. Craven recently had the opportunity to host McIntyre’s visit to Special Olympics headquarters.

The School of Strength video was one of 52 finalists in the fifth annual Sharecare Awards which recognize best-in-class productions and programs that promote well-being and embody the spirit of “sharing care.” Among the finalists were two other Special Olympics videos: Starkey Cares: Starkey Hearing at the 2022 USA Games and Special Olympics United with Refugees: Addressing the Crisis in Ukraine.

Donna Hill Howes, chief nursing officer of Sharecare said “Selected by our competition’s esteemed Academy of Judges, comprised of renowned experts in health and media, and their juries, the Special Olympics School of Strength entry exemplifies the inspiring commitment to ‘sharing care’ that the Sharecare Awards seeks to elevate and honor.”
