Sault Release 5 Password-Protected New Albums

Sault have released five new albums in a password-protected folder, which they say will disappear in five days. The mysterious UK music project—which released an orchestral album called Air back in April—posted a message on social media describing the albums as “an offering to God,” adding that the password “is in the message”; it was signed off, “Love SAULT.” The folder is currently available on the band’s website; once opened, it contains a zip file with albums titled 11, Aiir, Earth, Today & Tomorrow, and (Untitled) God.

Of the five albums, Aiir most closely follows the symphonic style of the April album. Earth mixes contemporary soul with choral elements and African drum polyrhythms, Today & Tomorrow evokes vintage ’70s funk and rock, and 11 and (Untitled) God adopt similarly sprawling R&B sounds to the group’s breakthrough albums, Untitled (Black Is) and Untitled (Rise).

Sault followed those records in 2021 with Nine, which was available to stream, download, and buy for 99 days following its release. Last month, Sault released the single “Angel,” which does not appear on the new records. Though it has no official lineup, the group is understood to revolve around Inflo, a producer who has worked with Adele, Little Simz, and Michael Kiwanuka.
