Sade’s first song in fourteen years will be appearing on a forthcoming compilation album from the music production non-profit Red Hot. The LP is called TRAИƧA and is described as a “spiritual journey celebrating trans people,” with contributions from over 100 artists, many of whom are trans, queer or non-binary.
Work on TRAИƧA began in 2021. The final version of the project is over three and a half hours long with 46 tracks spread across eight defined chapters. Sade’s single “Young Lion” appears on a chapter titled “Liberation” and is an homage to her trans son, Izaak Theo Adu.
Other chapters on the album are “Womb of the Soul,” “Survival,” “Dark Night,” “Grief,” “Acceptance” and “Reinvention.”
Alongside Sade, TRAИƧA features contributions from Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Sam Smith, Adrianne Lenker, Moses Sumney, Fleet Foxes, Perfume Genius, Sharon Van Etten, André 3000 and more.
Red Hot’s TRAИƧA will be out for streaming on November 22.
