Publisher Astra House has officially announced The Chronicles of DOOM: Unraveling Rap’s Masked Iconoclast, an MF DOOM biography authored by veteran music journalist S.H. Fernando Jr.
The book will see Fernando Jr. “recount the rise, fall, redemption, and untimely demise” of MF DOOM, whose death on October 31, 2020 was not made public by his wife until December 31 of that year. “[MF DOOM]’s story has been recounted endlessly on the internet,” Astra House senior editor Danny Vazquez said. “Amateur music historians have tried, and failed, time and time again, to tell his complete story.”
The life of the late rapper was been discussed a number of times since his death; in October 2021 — a year after his death — it was announced that he will be the topic of the second season of the Did I Ever Tell You the One About… podcast, which comes from MC Serch and Chantel Berrin’s Timeless Podcast Company. In addition, DOOM will make a posthumous appearance on Danger Mouse and Black Thought‘s highly-anticipated album Cheat Codes.
Fernando Jr.’s The Chronicles of DOOM: Unraveling Rap’s Masked Iconoclast hits shelves in 2024.
In THE CHRONICLES OF DOOM, @SkizFernando will recount the rise, fall, redemption, and untimely demise of Daniel Dumile AKA @MFDOOM, one of rap’s most enigmatic and influential figures—from KMD, to @adultswim, to escaping death in the public eye for months before it was announced. pic.twitter.com/gVSH8TwWdo
