Recent rumors regarding Marvel Studios‘ upcoming Phase 5 appear to point towards the possibility of Ryan Gosling or Alexander Skarsgård joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Direct recently reported that insider Daniel Richtman shared on his Pateron account that Marvel is currently eyeing someone to play a major villain in the MCU. The role calls for a leading male between the ages of 30 and 50. The antagonist is described to be “a conflicted and powerful villain” and compares himself to a version of an “evil Superman.” The role best resembles the role of Sentry in the MCU, slated to make his debut in the upcoming Thunderbolts film.
Sentry is a 2000s-era superhero created by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee. Within the MCU, Sentry is known as Robert Reynolds, a young man who gained “powers of a thousand exploding suns” after an experimental ingestion of a serum. Earlier this summer, Ryan Gosling revealed that he would be interested in joining the MCU as Ghost Rider. While these may just be rumors for now, it is hard to say if Gosling’s dream will come true.
Marvel has not yet confirmed or denied the rumor.
In other entertainment news, Dune: The Sisterhood prequel has received a major shakeup at HBO Max.
