Rolls-Royce Unveils the Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis

In an ode to the celestial wonder that is a solar eclipse, Rolls-Royce has unveiled a highly exclusive Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection, limited to a production of just 25 examples.

Born out of a unique blend of aesthetic innovation and advanced technology, the manufacturer expressed that the Ghost Ékleipsis is not merely a car but a sensory experience. Central to its design is the animated Starlight Headliner, crafted to infuse the cabin with a sense of wonder. As occupants take their seats, the animated headliner evokes the awe-inspiring spectacle of a total solar eclipse.

Additionally, the vehicle’s exterior color, “Lyrical Copper,” captures the golden darkness or ethereal glow of a solar eclipse. With the use of this bespoke finish, the car captures the intrigue of the transitioning light during an eclipse. The same Mandarin hue that is featured on the Pantheon Grille and brake calipers is also used in the hand-painted coachline, symbolizing the dance of sunlight and shadows, according to the automaker.

While the vehicle features a countless number of stunning details, its illuminated fascia stands out as the star of the show — as it boasts over 1,846 laser-etched “stars,” narrating the chronicle of a total solar eclipse. This craftsmanship culminates in a timepiece inset, with a shimmering 0.5-carat diamond, reminiscent of the “Diamond Ring” effect during an eclipse. It’s worth noting that this marks a historical moment for Rolls-Royce, with a gemstone being integrated into a clock’s bezel for the very first time.

Additional details worth noting include the illusionary Panoramic Sunset interior, achieved through over 200,000 individual perforations on the vehicle’s bi-colored Mandarin leather seats.

“With RollsRoyce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis, we draw inspiration from a total solar eclipse: a seldom-seen and spellbinding phenomenon that reflects the rarity and beauty of RollsRoyce Private Collections,” shared Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars CEO.

He added “In capturing the magic of this celestial alignment, our Bespoke Collective of designers, engineers and craftspeople have once again elevated contemporary craftsmanship, with a landmark series of exquisite details that project the marque’s culture of ambition and excellence. We are exceptionally proud to present these motor cars to 25 of our most significant clients around the world – it is these individuals who inspire greatness within our brand, and who drive us to create ever more bold and richly detailed expressions of modern luxury.”

Elsewhere in automotive, Porsche and TAG Heuer collaborate on a highly limited 718 Cayman GT4 RS.
