Rocket League is adding a limited-time battle royale mode, dubbed Knockout Bash, to its usual vehicular soccer gameplay.
The new mode, which will be available to play for two weeks beginning on April 27, will see eight players face off against each other inside an ever-shrinking “Safezone” in an effort to be the last one standing. Players must defend themselves by ramming into opposing vehicles, blocking attacks and throwing opponents across the arena; they will only be eliminated once they have been knocked out three times, according to Engadget.
Knockout Bash will include several hazards, including spikes and laser grids, that will immediately knock out players. Additionally, at the six-minute mark, the game will change into a “Sudden KO” mode, during which attacks will be more powerful and exiting the Safezone will result in immediate elimination.
The battle-royale-style gameplay will remain available until May 10, with three dedicated maps. Twitch viewers will reportedly be able to collect special player banners if they tune into specific Rocket League streamers when Knockout Bash launches. It is currently unknown if the battle royale mode will return at a later date.
