Los Angeles-based artist Robert Moreland will soon release the sequel to his print series with Detroit gallery Louis Buhl & Co. Following the large-scale work Red Rectangle (2023), the forthcoming print will also incorporate a similar geometric sensibility that has led Moreland to transpose the same three-dimensional effect in his wall works to the printed surface.
Blue Switchback with Curve distorts the eye through a cobalt hue that appears to give way to a cylindrical passage in the middle, thanks to calculated shapes and a spot varnish that Moreland employed to imbue a sense of depth. “By mimicking the dynamic interplay of light on his sculptural works, Moreland successfully translates the tactile experience of his physical constructions onto paper, bridging the gap between two and three dimensions,” wrote the gallery in a statement.
Limited to an edition of 35, the UV print measures 36 x 36 inches, is printed on Hot Press 325gsm Coventry Rag paper and comes signed and numbered by the artist. For collectors looking to purchase, please visit Louis Buhl & Co. and sign up for the early interest list.
