Rita Ora Goes Trouser-less for the Met Gala Afterparty, but Adds Multiple Belts Anyway

Rita Ora Goes Trouser-less for the Met Gala Afterparty, but Adds Multiple Belts Anyway

We had high expectations for Rita Ora’s Met Gala afterparty look, and the singer did not disappoint. Fresh from her showstopping Prabal Gurung corset dress with dramatic train that she displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on 1 May, she made an outfit change for the all-important afterparty that was even more revealing.

On her way to Zero Bond in NYC, she stripped to her black underwear and donned a black bralette with matching high-waisted knickers. Ora has been a fan of the trouser-less trend of late, having previously rocked tights and knickers around LA, and she adopted the underwear look for the prestigious fashion event. Teaming the co-ord with shiny sheer tights and black patent heels, you would be forgiven for thinking her look was stylish enough, but the accessorising really gave the ‘fit a fashion edge that continued to adhere to this year’s theme: “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”.

The newlywed, who had appeared on the Met Gala red carpet alongside her husband, Taika Waititi, adopted the “more is more” mantra and added multiple chains, belts, and bangles. Her oversize Chanel choker came complete with numerous pearl, gold, and black chains, and the theme continued at her waist as she attached seven (yes, seven) chain and buckle belts, with the iconic locked “C” Chanel logo dangling from them, as well as black and gold cuffs stacked up to her elbow.

Enough accessories? Not for Ora! Black sunglasses, a fur stole, Chanel quilted bag, and a snake print coat were loaded on top of her look. And glittering fingerless gloves, naturally. There was one notable element missing, however. Just hours earlier, her glossy black nails were adorned with foot-long chains. As fans questioned the practicality of the dramatic nails, it seems the star removed them for the afterparty. We had been wondering how many times they might get stepped on while on the dancefloor . . .

Ora joined the likes of Kendall Jenner, who also went trouser-less for the red carpet in a Marc Jacobs sequinned bodysuit. Jenner then changed into a total sheer bodysuit by London-based designer Nensi Dojaka with her black thong worn over the top. The look was in fact a recreation of an iconic Chanel look from 1994 which was created by Karl Lagerfeld. Furthermore, eagle-eyed fans spotted Kim Kardashian talking to her ex, Pete Davison. The former couple stepped out together at last year’s Met Gala, and it seems they are still on friendly terms after they were photographed smiling chatting to each other (with Usher third-wheeling) at the afterparty.
