League of Legends developer Riot Games will now be donating its proceeds from in-game battle pass purchases to Ukraine.
According to the company, the money earned from selling passes for Valorant, Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics and League of Legends: Wild Rift between March 5 to March 12 will be donated to Ukraine on top of proceeds from the new Bee skin line in League of Legends itself. In addition, Riot Games will also donate $1 million USD out of its own pocket to three humanitarian non-profits, including International Medical Corps, the Polish Red Cross, and Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders.
“The war in Ukraine has caused an expanding humanitarian crisis,” the company said in a statement. “Since it began, we’ve heard from players around the world that they want to help—and so do we… All proceeds from both Riot’s donation and the player fundraiser will directly support humanitarian relief in Ukraine and other affected areas.”
Elsewhere in gaming, Square Enix has now delayed the release date for Forspoken.
