1999 WRITE THE FUTURE is a group to keep an eye on this year, dropping off collaborative tracks and visuals with the likes of Westside Gunn, BADBADNOTGOOD, Rich Brian, Conway The Machine and most recently, Eyedress. The 88rising x RCA Records collective has tapped Rich Brian once more, and paired him up with Rick Ross on new high-energy cut “LiGhT rAiLs.”
Produced by redveil, the rappers exchange banter over a bouncy beat. Rich Brian brings the heat on the first verse, spitting quippy lines and building the momentum for “Ravioli Ricky” to step in. “Top down my smoke thick / Free throws I don’t miss / White tees my hat back / my b*tch bad I love this,” he opens, with lightrail type sounds layered under the melody.
“Dark room I’m iced out / Sun rising it’s light out,” he signs off.
The new track brings together the unexpected collaborators together for a second time; they first joined forces on DJ Snake‘s 2021 single “Run It.” The high-energy cut appeared on the soundtrack of Marvel Studios‘ film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
“LiGhT rAiLs” is streaming everywhere now.
