Rhymezlikedimez first released his “Solo” print – a nod to Frank Ocean‘s beloved Blonde cut – in 2018, and it was met with great acclaim by fans. Now, five years later, the multidisciplinary visual artist is bringing back his “Solo” print in a new form: a hand-crafted New Zealand wool rug.
Dimez, formally known as Robin Velghe, delivered the below “Solo” print in August of 2018; peep the comments section and you’ll find it flooded with fans begging Velghe to re-release the print.
So he did. Velghe drew from the design of the original print to craft the 165cm by 125cm rug, which features Ocean posted up in front of his infamous orange BMW.
This re-release frenzy is not uncommon for an artist like Velghe; people are always asking him to drop coveted archival prints. However, Velghe ensures to stay intentional with what he’s re-releasing. “I do not want to repeat myself too much in my work, but I fell in love with the idea of re-interpreting archival print pieces as new objects,” Velghe explained. “By releasing my first ever rug, I feel like I’m continuing the story of my love for everything Frank Ocean touches in an original and refreshing way.”
Expect “Solo”, the rug – which retails for $275 USD plus shipping fees – to land live on the Rhymezlikedimez website on November 29 at 9 a.m. PST. Rugs are first come first serve, and international shipping is available as well.
