July 1-4 was dedicated to celebrating the efforts of Italian motor racing globally at Motor Valley Fest, held in the UNESCO World Heritage Site Modena, Italy — regarded as the birthplace of the world’s most famous automotive brands including Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Dallara, Pagani and Ducati. The event displayed the best of the best in Italian engineering for a jam-packed four days of automotive-focused events in partnership with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Italian Trade Agency and the Emilia-Romagna Region to promote the country’s top businesses.
Having already caught up with Horacio Pagani as he prepped to showcase new offerings from his eponymous supercar brand as well as Dallara hosting an e-sports competition with virtual renditions of iconic circuits — HYPEBEAST received exclusive access to Motor Valley Fest 2021 to get firsthand experience of the events. Here are the stand-out activities from the festival:
Ferrari Challenge
After the Formula 1 F60 and SF70 took to the track to showcase their incredible speeds, it was the turn of seasoned drivers Giancarlo Fisichella, Davide Rigon, Daniel Serra and Olivier Beretta to take part in the Ferrari Competizioni GT which saw the 2019 Le Mans 24hr winner 488 GTE pitted against the 488 GT3 Evo.
Lamborghini and Ducati
Sunday opened up with a convoy parade led by President of the Motor Valley Development Association and Managing Director of Ducati, Claudio Domenicali as he rode in a Ducati Panigale customized by Aldo Drudi. Following him were four riders aboard a Ducati Panigale V4 S as well as four Lamborghini drivers in Huracan Evo road cars and the Super Trofeo Evo.
“The Race of Made in Italy” pitted MotoGP and official Trofeo drivers head-to-head in the battle of the Lamborghinis. Competing riders included Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia (Team Ducati Lenovo MotoGP), Enea Bastianini (Avintia Esponsorma Racing MotoGP), Matteo Ferrari (E-Racing Gresini MotoE), Mattia Pasini (Moto2 rider), Giacomo Altoé (Trofeo Lamborghini), Sandy Mitchell (Trofeo Lamborghini), Giovanni Venturini (Trofeo Lamborghini) and Pier Luigi Moccia (test driver at Lamborghini’s experience department).
Cavallino Classic
For over 40 years, Cavallino has been the go-to destination for Ferrari collectors and enthusiasts alike. A celebration of the vehicle’s history, design and speed, this event sets the example of what it means to be a Ferrari collector as attendees are judged on their cars — new and old.
Memorial Bettega
Honoring the legacy of renowned rally driver, the late Attilio Bettega, this event featured the festival’s most adrenaline-fuelled challenges. Eight iconic cars which hold historical significance in the world of rally driving were called up including the Lancia Rally 037, Lancia Stratos, Lancia Delta int. 16V, Subaru Legacy, and Ferrari 308GT4 operated by a selection of world champion drivers.
Dallara Day
As the first road car to be manufactured by the company, the Dallara Stradale took to the Varano racetrack to exhibit its iconic status at “The land of Motors”. Dallara Academy was also involved in the event, an organization conceptualized by engineer Giampaolo Dallara to share and transmit the knowledge and passion for racing cars.
