Leeds are still pushing hard to sign Nahitan Nandez but Cagliari are refusing to lower their demands for the midfielder according to a report from Corriere dello Sport (print edition, July 13th, pages 22 and 23).
The Whites have plenty of footballers who are easy on the eye.
They do lack any kind of bite and tenacity in the middle of the park, however.
And Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has clearly identified that as an area of his squad at Elland Road that needs to be addressed.
Nahitan Nandez a key target for Leeds but there’s a problem
Corriere dello Sport’s print edition today explains how the Whites are trying really hard to sign the 25-year-old midfielder.
Cagliari are allegedly not prepared to lower their demands for the Uruguay international, however.
The Italians are said to be demanding the full €36 million (£31 million) for Nandez. It is alleged that they want that figure paid in two instalments.
Leeds want to get that price lowered, however.
So this one could be a long drawn out transfer saga.
Nandez is a top class player with all the attributes needed to succeed in England. He was once described as a warrior by highly respected football journalist Fabrizio Romano way back in 2019.
The South American would compliment Kalvin Phillips perfectly in the middle of the park.

Whether he is worth £31 million, however, is another matter entirely.
