Reigning Formula 1 Driver’s Championship winners Red Bull Racing has just unveiled its new RB18 car for the 2022 season.
Featured above, the new racer takes on a similar deep blue, red and yellow livery as its predecessors from recent years, but its silhouette marks a massive departure from previous designs thanks to Formula 1’s regulation changes for 2022, which are designed to bring racers closer to each other when following and create more overtaking opportunities with its aerodynamic elements and bodywork. Another key highlight on the RB18 is the bold red number “1” on the nose cone, a tradition granted to the reigning world champion which Max Verstappen, unlike Lewis Hamilton over past seasons, has now decided to take on.
Of course, it’s also important to note that the current car photographed above is still very much “a prototype” as CEO and team principal Christian Horner points out, so fans should be on the lookout for how the car evolves during pre-season testing, when it arrives for its first race, and throughout the season as a whole.
Check out the images of Red Bull’s RB18 while you wait for other teams to unveil their cars as well in the coming two weeks.
