Rannel Ngumuya is a Malawi-born, Los Angeles-based artist best-known for his imaginary Bungaloverse, where Nelious, aka Bungalo Boy, traverses to find his way home. Along his journey, he encounters a number of similar, but unique characters that teach him lessons that he brings back to his homeland.
The artist has released his first physical sculpture that features Nelious on a golden toilet. The figure resembles the “Thinking Man”, according to the artist, adding that it “showcases Nelious in one of the most relatable spaces we all think the best! It represents all the golden ideas we tend to sit on as creatives, hesitant to push out… full pun intended!”
At the core of the brand, Rannel created Bungalo Boy to represent immigrants and creatives like himself, who immigrated with little financial means, but found a way to break through with vision and artistic talent. “Reality is shaped by what we imagine, so why not create an outlet that inspires the young minds to change their reality through their imagination,” the artist added.
The Bungalo Boy figurine is available to purchase for $250 USD. There is also a collection of apparel, such as a letterman jacket available for $300 USD.
