Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood Nominated for Best Original Score at 2022 Oscars

Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood Nominated for Best Original Score at 2022 Oscars

The 2022 Oscar nominations for Best Original Score have been announced. Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead is up for The Power of the Dog and Hans Zimmer got a nod for Dune. They’ll face off against Nicholas Britell (Don’t Look Up), Germaine Franco (Encanto), and Alberto Iglesias (Parallel Mothers).

Jonny Greenwood was previously nominated for Best Original Score at the 2018 Academy Awards. His Phantom Thread score ultimately fell short to Alexandre Desplat’s The Shape of Water.

The Power of the Dog, directed by Jane Campion, is up for Best Picture. It’ll compete against Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza (featuring a title theme by Jonny Greenwood), Dune, Don’t Look Up, Drive My Car, West Side Story, and King Richard—the Richard Williams biopic that boasts Beyoncé’s Oscar-nominated song “Be Alive.”

In 2021, Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Jon Batiste took home the Best Original Score trophy for their work on the animated Pixar film Soul. The 94th Academy Awards ceremony will take place March 27 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
