SUMMER TIDE has won just once from ten starts over hurdles but his four best RPRs (Racing Post Ratings) have been recorded in high summer (June to August) and he rates a solid buy in this three-mile handicap hurdle. The cheekpieces go on for the first time and progeny of his sire Fame And Glory are 12 from 41 in this headgear over hurdles on good to soft or faster going for a profit of £27.25. Those who started in the front five in the betting as Summer Tide is likely to do, were 12 from 26 for a profit of £42.25. The step back up in trip could also bring about improvement.

CHESTER 3.30
GABRIAL THE DEVIL (be careful with your bets, as Gabrial The Wire also runs in this race in the Koukash colours) was only tenth of 15 in a hot 6f handicap at York last time but the pace held up that day and his patient style was at a huge disadvantage (he actually did fourth best of the hold-up horses). His last three wins have come at today’s venue and he could sneak into the frame at a big price despite the obvious concern about today’s longer trip.
