Priority Health in Grand Rapids, the second largest health plan in Michigan, has launched a program designed to lower costs and incentivize members who prioritize their health.

It joins a group of incentive options available for large-group employers that purchase Priority Well, a digital health and wellness program that was launched in 2022.

PriorityWell works to guide members and provide recommendations for programs that are relevant to their individual health needs. Members choose goal-related programs, including daily interactive content, healthy habits tracking, and more.

About 80 individual and group activity challenges are also featured that focus on exercise, healthy eating and managing stress. As members track their activity, they earn incentives.

The latest incentive program — PriorityWell Choice Benefits — offers members lower out-of-pocket expenses when they complete activities based on interests and goals. Activities and points are tracked on the Priority Health Wellbeing Hub, a digital platform managed by Virgin Pulse, a global digital-first health, well-being, and navigation company.

Members also may earn Pulse Cash, which can be redeemed for gift cards to retailers and restaurants, exchanged for fitness accessories or turned into a charitable donation.

A 2022 study by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce found employers that made greater investments in health plans with wellness programs tended to result in high ROI at nearly 50 percent. An earlier study found 87 percent of employees consider health and wellness packages when choosing an employer.

Wellness programs are a win-win for both employers and employees, says Alicia Coronas, vice president of employer solutions product and marketing at Priority Health.

“Employees place high value on quality health plans that offer wellness support – so much so that it can be a driver for recruitment and retention,” says Coronas. “At Priority Health, we understand that employees who feel good and see that their well-being is important to their employers are more productive and engaged.

“PriorityWell Choice Benefits is a great example of our commitment to providing employers with convenient and accessible options for their employees to holistically focus on their health.”

PriorityWell Choice Benefits is available as an offering for self-funded and fully funded employer groups. The PriorityWell solution includes a range of additional incentive options employers can choose from.
